Technics SL-3 'DC servo' automatic belt drive turntable with linear tracking tone arm. This unit was brought into my electronics repair business for disposal and recycling. I have many years of experience as an audio repair technician and thought this turntable was far too nice to dispose of, so I repaired it. It has been cleaned and lubed, and had a new belt installed. As the pictures show, the P mount cartridge had been upgraded from the standard Technics model to a Shure M104E sometime before I got it, but the needle was broken, so I installed a brand new replacement stylus while doing the other repairs.
This SL-3 has been tested with the shop stereo (an Audiolab 8000A amplifier and a pair of Boston Acoustics A40 speakers). It produced decent, good sound, about what would be expected for this unit, which was one of Technics' entry level linear trackers. Honestly, yes, there are some turntables out there that sound better, but there are a heck of a lot that sound worse too.
Although the SL-3 has a plastic frame, it is one of the most solid and heavy plastic frames I have ever seen, and the entire player weighs 7lbs without any cables. The platter is cast aluminum, and belt driven from a servo controlled, DC motor. Tone arm tracking is smooth and accurate, as is the turntable speed.
No audio cables are included! Any good quality stereo RCA cable will suffice. I got no cables at all with this turntable, but will sell it with a power cable and a home made ground cable. Both worked well during testing.
I can ship this turntable anywhere in North America. I use lots of good packaging and insurance, to ensure damage-free delivery.
If you're genuinely interested, I can provide better pictures. I copied these off my listing on a well-known auction site that's hosed me once too often.
Power cable, home made ground cable.
