"I would call it articulate... Tight deep bass, smooth natural mids and accurate top end. Nothing to fault here. a musical preamp with a nice transparent Sound stage." Audio Review
"The Citation 7.0 is simply, to my ears, the best analog preamp I have heard or (it seems) hope to hear . So here now I belatedly add myself to the list of 7.0 admirers and offer my advice to anyone considering this outstanding piece of equipment to buy it quick and don't look back." Audio Review
"I have gone through a number of quality preamp processors. Eventually dumping the AVP, I tried out an EAD, Lexicon MC-1, a recently disposed of Parasound Halo C2...and now, a Lexicon MC-12 that sits on my shelf, next to my Citation. Through all my ventures, including my time with the MC-12, I've discovered that there is little out there than can match the Citation for 2-channel analog music or even analog surround sound"
"The Harman Kardon Citation 7.0 is without a doubt the world's finest analog home theater preamp, and many people have discovered that it is an expectional performer as a stereo linestage as well." Harman Kardon's designers can be proud of their achievement in the Citation 7.0. Its high performance both in normal stereo operation and in surround playback of soundtracks and music, and its ease of setup and use. Its programmable versatility are second to none and superior to most. Combined into one component, the result is unbeatable. The Citation 7.0 is the best A/V preamp I have tested. Hi-Fi Review.
The Citation 7.0 is the finest analog surround processor ever made, although I haven't heard Jim Fosgate's new tube piece. In stereo bypass (2-channel), it uses a minimum of gain stages with very high-quality componentry in the signal path. Dealers have told me it rivals $4000-$6000 stereo preamps in sound quality. None other than notable audiophile Rich Green told me it narrowly bested his Krell preamp years ago. Paul Scarpelli AVS Forum
