Not a lot of these out there. Heavy built and good looker.
Wasnt working when I got it - I took it directly to a good tech. Now is working as Manual, but the Automatic features not working. I dont think the tone arm auto lift works either.
...tech has it working fine as full Manual. Strobe is working. Motor strong and tested for quite a few hours. Makes speed near instantly. The CPU for tonearm is bad. Not able to find correct one and ran out of steam for this project.
Price will go up if get to Automatic as from factory.
..got a text from fellow Canuck member with a link on how to convert to Manual operation. This gets most of them working, and this particular mod is reversable - no hacksaws or glue guns involved.
..photos with dust cover plus ...update from tech..."...checked for voltages throughout and they all seem to be there....next will poke around the logic board thinking that one or more of the little tantalum caps may be acting up..."
These are well known to give grief - very fancy automatic features and complex mechanicals. Time is not our friend here.
This is a one owner (until this week) unit that hasnt had much use. Was a second system and sat mostly, and not played at all for 10 plus years.
Overall cosmetics i rate at a solid 8 out of 10, maybe better. As compared to a few other unrestored examples. Shiny black finish has a few very small marks/defects. But really impressive overall condition. Some photos make it look like its covered with white marks it's not - thats dust or some reflection or something. It does have a few small while marks - but i do mean a few.. And they may clean off. Piano black shows everything.
Very well kept in a clean climate controlled home. Owner very fussy. Was sitting on top of a nice rack stand full of Sansui gear.
Dust cover is very good too - but...has the typical plastic breakout at the hinges - end of spring has broken through on both. Plan to repair proper with metal reinforcement. But no cracks or damage to rest of the cover - few scratches but will polish up nice and be better than average.
Price?...A working one of these sold on Feebay for $900 US a couple years back. A couple of not working ones sold for $330-400 US recently on the Fee. Place in Europe had one for 2000 Euros with 2 yr warranty that may or may not have sold for that.
Cartridge not included at this price, but may sell for extra. Missing the stylus though - I'm on the hunt for one. Pretty desireable Empire EDR 9. Low hours like probably 100 or less. And looks terrific on the black table.
Extras - Original owners manual, warranty card, 45 rpm adaptor, factory polish cloth still in the bag, all transit scews and bracket and looks like a spare set (i probably will keep the spare set if so)., a little bag of sticky felts that may be for the table - or not, and a little plastic thing that may hold wires, and may or may not be for the table (will remove if i find out its not).
Local sale preferred - but I will ship. Am pretty good at packing, so should be OK. May ask a bit for materials and my time.
No returns or refund if shipped.
Can also deliver for free to Calgary, on my schedule. Edmonton also possible.
May consider interesting trades.
Email...or call/text 403-443-3229 not after 9 pm mountain please
