Here is a very nice example of a extensively restored SX-950.
I have done everything that I believe needed to be done with the exception of the two power supply caps and recapping the tuner board.
The following boards were recapped replacing all electrolytic and tantalum caps, replaced all failure prone transistors, diodes and trimmers replaced.
Power amp assembly, protection board, power supply board, tone board, flat amp board, switch boards and equalizer amp assembly.
You can look at the picture that shows the parts replaced to get a sense of the scope of the work involved. However replacing parts is only part of the work. When a board is pulled all components are inspected and under magnification all soldered leads are inspected for cold solder connections. There were several that needed to be resoldered. All transistors on heat sinks had the old thermal compound removed and new added. The original outputs were pulled old thermal compound removed and new sil pads added.
It doesn't take a lot of research on the net to discover that this series had a lot of transistors in it that have proven to be failure prone. So they were replaced.
The amp section has been properly adjusted to service manual specs.
All controls cleaned and lubed. All lights working. I have even provided two new lamps for the display and placed them inside in a small bag zip tied in place in the event the new owner needs to replace a bulb.
The tuning capacitor properly cleaned. Tuner indicator aligned and tuner sensitivity tweaked for maximum sensitivity.
Cosmetically a few marks on the top edge of the face plate. The wood case is in prime condition. Looks beautiful.

I have put a short video up of the receiver at https://youtu.be/EjpN3NYjW-k

Note, I only work on my own pieces. In my opinion the work I have done would likely run $600.00 plus, if you were paying someone properly for their time and parts.
Regardless these units need attention in order to perform ,reliably as designed.
This unit reflects an era of tremendous build quality and results in terrific sound quality.

I am a pro shipper.
I prefer Interac Money transfer.

Note. My prices are always firm. I do not charge for my packing and materials. Plus my pack job is always top notch. The last thing I want is to have one of my treasures damaged in transit.

My next items that will soon be ready will be a AU-719 ,TU-719,AU-717,TU-717, Marantz 1250,2330 and a 1300DC.And a Kenwood 11000G
