3 to 4 years old, second owner, non smoking, non pet home ...same as original owner... excellent condition i.e.. In perfect working order. I phoned Tash and he matched the right tweeter so I once again I have a matched pair.*These are exquisite speakers, designed to exacting standards. They feature a high efficiency and a smooth flat load with no low impedance dips in the bass region....perfect for low powered SET amps. If CAM would let me ,because now they are a little over 3 years old ,I would unequivocally call these "mint" . They are essentially matched drivers without to need for a Xover. The tweeter is protected by a high grade cap, essentially making this a first order hand off....read very seamless and coherent.

*Please note that the right tweeter is now replaced from Reference 3a with a serial number carefully matched from that batch of speakers. Reference 3a goes to great lengths to match their drivers. The tweeter was professionally installed and after a short break-in it matches the left one perfectly. Also, note that the right speaker has a black turbulence device and the left one a white one. It appears there is not turbulence device on the right because it blends in with the black driver.(see last review pic or contact Reference 3a to confirm this) Phone me or if you are a local come around and give them a listen .Many of you asked why the lens are different colors so I emailed Tash at Reference 3a ...s on June 5/17 and he said the different coloured lens are easy to remedy, just unscrew the white one, which is easy ,and use a black felt pens to color it black. They use to make them this way but have gone back to black on both sides. As for the tweeter, I put a slight dent into the original when moving them so I had it replaced. You can email Tash Gach at Refrence 3a to confirm all of this if you want. The email address is on their site just Google it.

I took them off line for awhile since I am grappling with a chronic illness and was hospitalized.

After hours of running a quality mono signal through each speaker I could detect a small difference on the dented one, however it is so close that when played normally as a stereo pair I could not hear the difference. These are very clean accurate speakers with extended detail highs and a midrange to die for. I wish I could keep them ,however my budget dictates that I have one system only. I will eventually be moving to a smaller place ,hence I am staying with the Spatial M3 Turbo that can be placed in smaller environments.

After playing the De Capos for a couple of days plus, the new right tweeter tweeter is now slowly coming ito alighment to the left one. I am super fussy about my sytems and go by the golden rule. You will love these.

The right tweeter is now fully broken in and they are once again a matched pair. Clearly one of the best standmounts under $10 K CAD. The Tyler Acoustics One sand filled stands are available too, at a reduced price,if you are willing to pick up them up together. These stands fit this speaker perfectly and with the heavy brass cone feet make this speaker stand 27" tall which both my friend ,who owns the same speaker ,and I find is ideal.

I am open top reasonable offers on both the Decapos and the stands.

The speakers and stands either together (pick up)or just the speskersd(see ads) are available spearately and I have l the original pasckaging and box for the Reference 3a . I am now open to resonable offers.

Happy Listening

Do you ever write ads only to find you missed a number of typos ? That is the difference between when I started this hobby/obsession after graduating from university in in 1972 and now being close to 70. Hey soon I will not need tweeters ...just kidding... there are many factors and complexities to hearing as Paul M. of PS Audio just pointed out weeks months ago. Even though physically I have a extreme roll off under 10K ,I can still discern good sound from poor sound. It is amazing what the brain does when processing hearing.. The brain does many things akin to a DSP system when it comes to the appreciation of music ...and hey ....it’s organic.

Sorry about the typos . I am 70 years old and my first system was a EP I 100(same cap protected tweeter as the Reference 3 a.) They had a much better midrange than anything even close to it’s price ...and of course ... I had the usual lamp cord pioneer /Yamaha/Thorens Shure V15III cart. I then went Klipsch Cornwalls with a HK power and pre and then came those deadly Cobra cables that changed everything.... and then the IC revolution and now I have $500 power cables with a dedicated circuit....how things change eh?

Like Frank Zappa once said after one of his rants...”Music is best”.

Some have emailed wondering if the right dispersion /turbulence device is broken off. The answer is no ,it is black and blends in with the black driver(see Reference 3a site and you can see the black device on the right and the white device on the left.

Please note that the black phasing plug on the right side ,which is how they came, does not show up very well but is in perfect condtion.

24" Black sand filled Tyler Aoustics stands nowe included if you are willing to pick them up .

Acoustic lenses can be unscrewed and painted. Black markers usually work well for that.

Subject: Question

Hi Tash,

I am selling my 3a de capo BE (nextel) and buyers what to know why the left turbulence device is white and the right one is black. They suspect somehow that the woofer has been swapped out or replaced. Could you please set me straight on this one so I an inform my potential buyers?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

I cannot seem to reply to all the enquiries I have on this ad due to some as yet irresolvable conflict on Cam. I have worked hard to fix this with no results. If you are interested phone me at 1-removed phone number for privacy.
