For sale, sleek looking and beautiful sounding Primare i32 integrated amplifier, in black, like new condition. You will notice in the pictures that the blue plastic covering the faceplate is still on; so it's flawless. I am only selling it, and its companion piece the Primare DAC 30 (see other ad) because I switched my system over to Home Theatre (also a Primare). 3 years old, lightly used as I am in Toronto half the week.
Appearance is sleek and streamlined... nothing jamming up the sightlines. It looks as good as it sounds.
This is a wonderful sounding amplifier, like all things are that come out of Primare. I have had several Class D amps and this is the only one I have had which I am completely happy with. Primare has done something new with their proprietary UFPD - Ultra Fast Power Device which makes the music sparkle.
The system response time is so fast, notes just "appear". When you first hear it, it’s quite startling (in a very pleasant way) increasing my enjoyment of the music. With increased listening time, this becomes foundational to a consistently enjoyable listening experience.
Fast can sometimes present as bright... this is totally not the case. The amp is never tiring, even after marathon listening sessions. The high end is verrrry smooth and silky...tube like in its smoothness, but with more sparkle due to the UFPD. Second and third harmonics are right there. Honestly, the high end is like sunlight sparkling on the water.
Midrange, is open, smooth and very natural… nothing added, nothing missing. It presents in a nice holographic bubble instead of straight across the soundstage.
Bass is smooth and round; tight but never thin. The resonance around the edges of Jaco Pastorius’ bass or the resonance around the growl of Stevie Ray Vaughn’s guitar alone, is a good reason to buy this amp.
I found the amp very flexible in the music that it would play well... from classical to jazz to rock, etc.... it all sounds good. Well produced cd's sound great and poorly produced sound decent. Old 40's jazz cd's carry the sound characteristic of the older microphones evoking the imagery of the time period.
Primare is renowned for the quality of their engineering. This truly is a case of form following function. The amp is an EISA award winner (twice) for good reason. It sounds great and it works great. The amp is totally stable. It handles varying speaker loads with ease. Primare typically understates their power ratings. This amp is rated at 120 watts into 8 ohms, 230 watts into 4. I run 87db efficient speakers and NEVER had anything close to overload in spite of regularly rocking out.
The amp is network upgradeable so the software remains current with ease. The user interface for customization is simple and effective.
Buy this amp! You will enjoy it as much as I did.
There are a ton of reviews out there praising this amp. Here is one from Absolute Sound http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/primare-i32-integrated-amp/ See the link above to the Primare web site for a bunch more.
The amp is securely encased in foam and shipped in a stiff cardboard shipping container, so no worries about shipping; but it is also available for drop off on the 410/403 corridor between London and Toronto or close vicinity to London or GTA. See my other ad for the accompanying DAC30. They make a fabulous combo.
Interac or cash preferred, PayPal ok. Buyer pays for PayPal fees, shipping and insurance.
