We at TLP Audio think that the PLC Thingee Power Line Conditioner by Blue Circle Audio is one of the greatest bargains in audio today. There is not a single line conditioner on the market that comes close to the performance of the Blue Circle PLC Thingee for under $1000. This line conditioner is all about pure functionality. It is housed in rugged 4” ABS pipe and sealed at both ends with silicone. As Gilbert Yeung, the head designer of Blue Circle Audio recently stated, “People are likely going to put the Thingee behind the rack anyway, so why waste money on a fancy chassis?” But what the Thingee lacks in looks, it more than makes up for in performance.
Each Blue Circle PLC Thingee is hand-crafted here in North America, not subcontracted to some obscure production line in the Far East. It comes with an industry standard IEC power input, allowing for power cord upgrades. Depending on the model you choose, it has either four or six industrial-grade Hubbell outlets. The four-outlet version is $220.00, and for an extra thirty-five bucks you get six outlets. Inside the unit is a filtering network that is the equivalent of three BC86 MkIII Noise Hounds. The entire unit is hand-wired (no circuit board traces) with short double runs of 14 gauge wire to reduce series resistance as much as possible. The entire Thingee’s architecture is non current limiting so the dynamics of even big brute high-current amplifiers will not be compromised.
So how will the Thingee impact the sound of your system? The background will become much cleaner so subtle micro-dynamics are enhanced. High frequency hash is greatly reduced, imaging is more precise, and the lower register has more definition and extension. Everything seems to gain a sense of space. How much it impacts your system will depend on the quality of your A/C powerline.
We are blown away by the cost versus performance of this bargain-priced power line conditioner from Blue Circle Audio.
