So how many of you can claim that your speakers were designed by a triple PHD and Nasa Astro physicist, not many I expect. a/d/s speakers were designed by Dr. Godehard Guenther. Dr. Guenther founded a/d/s. He holds Ph.D.s in Astronomy, Nuclear Physics, and Physical Chemistry from University of Heidelberg. Having been recruited by Werner von Braun, he spent eight years as a project manager for NASA. In 1978, a passion for music led him to begin importing Braun audio loudspeakers to the U.S. That, in turn, led to the founding of a new audio company, a/d/s/. Eventually, he became president of Braun audio and for many years served as director of the German Industry Association (ZVEI), and as director of the German Institute of High Fidelity (DHFI). Braun later merged into a/d/s/, and under Dr. Guenther's guidance, they pioneered the category of miniature hi-fi loudspeakers and introduced an incredible list of industry innovations, including first use of rare earth magnets in a speaker, first use of a switching power supply for car hi-fi, first digital time-delay system for surround sound, first component speaker for car hi-fi, first in-wall speaker, first in-wall subwoofer. In 1998, Dr Guenther sold the a/d/s/ company to focus his efforts on developing great sound for the fast-growing world of multimedia applications.
For sale is the super rare L1590 system with very rare PA1 biamplifier option. The picture is the units being sold and as an avid a/d/s collector i have over 75 assorted pairs to sell off. Please do your own homework as there is much info about all the speakers I have for sale on the net. a/d/s were one of the most underrated loudspeakers of there time and have glowing reviews throughout the world. Any of the small 3 ways compete with many modern speakers costing thousands and the bigger 3 and 4 ways compete with speakers costing tens of thousands.
The prices are fair and firm, if you don't like my price then go somewhere else. Once you have decided to purchase the speakers in question call Gord at 416-702-9723 and arrange an appointment to listen and purchase. I don't have time to be e-mailing back and forth 10 times over a pair of speakers. Sorry for this hard line but many tire kickers out there and I just don't have the time, please understand.
Thanks very much
