These speakers are constructed from birch plywood, weighs 85 lbs each, with dimension of 43"(H) x 11"(W) x 14"(D).
This pair is of the "Standard" finsih model, in excellent condition. These are different from their "Signature" and "Reference" brethren models only in the use of a hard lacquer finish. All Shun Mook speakers come with no grilles.
It is a three-way design, employing a second order crossover (recommended power: 50 - 200 watts), 3 Dynaudio drivers - a 1" soft cloth dome tweeter, a 3.5" cloth soft dome midrange and a 10" woofer. Bandwith is 30Hz-20kHz, ported in the front, with a sensitivity of 89 dB, 6 ohms nominal impedance. Each speaker has internally 11 Mpingo disks to control resonance, 6 units of Kable Jacket to shield parts to reduce noise floor.
I am the original owner of this (rarely available on Canuckaudiomart) asymmetrically resonance tuned pair of loudspeakers which was designed by SHUN MOOK AUDIO, INC. and THE ORIGINAL CABLE JACKET, INC. in Oakland California. I bought this pair of black towers (sr.# 3329)in 1998 from Shun Mook Audio.
The Men of Mook, Dr. Yu-Wah Tan, Bill Ying and Andy Chow, are no strangers to controversy in the audio world. Their resonance control devices, such as the wooden Mpingo disks, are claimed to improve the sound of your stereo system simply by placing them on your audio components.
original packing boxes, manual, six Mpingo toning disc and disc template, moveable foot stands
