THIS AMP IS NOW SOLD. THANKS FOR LOOKING
SAE Model 2500 American made powerhouse vintage amplifier.
You don't find too many vintage power amps that hold down these kind of specs!
I attached some pics of the specs below... check'm out!
300 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load and a whopping 450 watts per channel into a 4 ohm load.
There aren't very many speakers if any that this beast can't drive to deafening levels.
I've had many power amps over the years and I honestly don't know if I have ever heard an amp that can pump out such clean undistorted power quite like this amp can. It's truly unbelievalble!
The condition of this amp is very good. A few small niks but nothing that you would notice a few feet back.
The VU meters light up a golden yellow. Each meter takes two lights each and I think one of them is out. An easy replacement though.
Stereophile did a review of this amplifier and I have attached the review to this ad. See pics below. They said it was probably the most powerful amp you could buy with the lowest distortion figures available. They weren't kidding.
Run this amp with something like a Martin Logan or a pair of fully restored Energy 22 Reference Conns or maybe a pair of Large Infinity References and you'll see exactly what all the hype was about. Bass is extremely well defined and deep! Highs are never fatiguing but they are revealing of all the detail you could ask for.
Included with the amp I have the original owners manual. (I am the second owner of the amp by the way) A copy of Stereophile's review and the original bill of sale.
The amp was sold to the original owner for $1800 back in 1977!!! Amazing! I have no idea what that would equate to today but let's just say it would be in a price category way beyond what most of us can afford.
I would seriously prefer a local sale on this amp. This way you can audition it first. Trust me... Once you hear this thing you will want it!
Shipping is available but be aware that it probably won't be cheap. It's super heavy and it is quite large. By the time I'm done packing it it will weigh a tonne!
Absolutely no disappointments with this amplifier!
