FOR SALE: Complete Cyrus System

A lot to say about this killer affordable high end system. This is the last and best iteration of the classic Cyrus lineup. Cast metal casings and the toggle switches on all three of the II/PSX/T denote the final production versions. The quality of parts used on these pieces is surprising. Mil spec components, glass epoxy PCBs, slit foil caps and very expensive torroid transformers even in the tuner, something rarely seen at any price. The inside shots give a good idea of just how well put built they are. The output trnasistors are even clamped on both sides for better heat transfer and to kill microphonics. I have never seen this anywhere else. Mission really went nuts on this series and the following Cyrus III was seen as big step back. The Cyrus line did not produce components that as well regarded as these until many years later, at which point the pricing had risen dramatically.
Cyrus II/PSX. I sold these back when they were current and they killed everything else in the store under $4000 in terms of amp/pre-amp combos. When used with the PSX the entire power supply of the II, already oversized for a 50w integrated, goes to the phono section alone. We felt this set up was even better than the Levinson No. 28 with optional phono board. The PSX lifts the overall performance of the II to an whole new level. Any review you have read of the II alone scarcely applies. I was not wild about the II alone and actually prefered the I, but the II came to life with the PSX.
Cyrus T. Brought out to go against other UK high end tuners such as Meridian and Audiolab that sold for over $1000. The Cyrus added remote control the others did not have and went much further by offering direct frequency punch in and volume trim from the remote. You can even shut off the display for better sound (sounds nuts, but try it).
PCM II. Very well regarded CD player with classic Philips swing arm transport and TDA1541 twin DACs. Remote has display shut off and volume control. As with the Cyrus II, the PSX lifts the player to a new level by implementing completely seperate power supplies for the digital and analog sections.
All are in very good shape, just a bit of paint off the top of the PSX. Faces and controls are very clean. The CD player is like new, apart from a green marker tweak applied to the inside of the loading drawer (remember the green felt pen days?). The CD player has absolutely all original packing and boxes, even the outside shipping box! The others all have original manuals and the II/PSX have their original boxes.
I put this system together for nostalgia's sake since it was one of my favorites back in my audio sales days. It took my several years to track down such nice examples of each. Unfortunately it is not even in use as I have no need for it so I will pass it along to someone who can make good use of it. It really is something special.
$950 OBO for the whole system.
