Description

The first and argueably best product from Sonic Frontier's Anthem line. Six tube pre-amp with separate power supply using a 5AR4 rectifier tube. Excellent phono stage with 48 db gain (enough for medium output (1mV) moving coils) using two 6922's and two 12AT7's that is worth the price of admission itself. Line stage is a zero feedback Mu follower circuit that uses two 6922's/6DJ8's or 6FQ7's (my preference) Beautifully smooth, open, dynamic sound, and images like crazy with a good phono front end.
This is the second unit I've owned, I took it on trade for my first one that was modified with upgraded coupling caps, stepped attenuators, and a few other parts, mods this pre responds very well to. I was planning to do that to this unit as well, but decided to go in another direction, mostly because thirteen years was enough time for owning one pre-amp.:) Mods could be negotiated as well.
This piece is in excellent shape with the exception of two small scratches on the bottom of the face plate (I can provide a close-up pic) so I would have to call it just very good. Comes with a NEW (less than 40 hrs) full matched set of tubes including NOS RCA clear-top 6CG7's and JAN Philips 12AT7's, so it's good to go at least another five years on those!
These pre's don't come up for sale often, people tend to keep 'em. If you're looking for a great tube pre with phono at a relatively budget price, here's the one. Freshly re-tubes and ready to go! Prefer local pick-up with audition, but shipping could be negotiated. Any questions, please ask.
