SORRY, NO LONGER AVAILABLE - PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS

There are many funny things in the world, and one of the funniest is comparing this Sherwood receiver vs. newer Pioneer Elite, Sony ES and Denon AV receivers selling for $1200 - $1800. The thing is, Sherwood S-7900A does sound better, despite being 35 years old and not having those advanced digital circuits (LOL).
It may not be as "clean" sounding, BUT it sounds way better, glowing and life-like. It also happens to sound better than all lower end to mid range vintage Marantz receivers(like 2225, 2230, 2235, 2238B - and you know for how much those sell for). Sherwood S-7900A is much harder to find than those Marantz models.

As you may know, it was listed last summer, but I pulled the ad off after doing an extensive auditioning and chose to keep it in my 50+ units vintage stereo collection until I got another S-7900A in impeccably mint condition (this one is only excellent) - That should tell you something right away.

Anyways, here is the updated description, and first come, first served:

THE TOP OF THE LINE SHERWOOD RECEIVER WHEN RELEASED IN 1974

The last Sherwood model produced in Chicago.
Retail: $470 US dollars in 1974
One of the best vintage receivers with balanced tube-like rich sound.
Very warm and transparent.
60 WPC RMS of underrated vintage power.
40 lbs of top notch electronics that still put to shame most units made today.
Incredible punch and dynamics.
Truly remarkable excellent condition.
Works perfectly.

COMPLETELY SERVICED.
Lamps replaced - controls de-oxed - power amp adjusted with dry solder joints re-soldered - cleaned in-and-out - all electrolytics checked and two leaking caps replaced (note - old pictures from July 2008 used, done before re-cap).
CANNOT FIND ANOTHER LIKE THIS ONE.

INFORMATION / QUOTES

First of all you can see Sherwood S-7100A and Sherwood S-7200, both bottom of the line selling on CAM for $100 and $150 respectively:

I assure you that S-7900A is VERY different from those units.

"only the best thing Sherwood ever produced and at least the equal of the High-end Marantz models of the day.
This could be the best Solid State receiver built in the 70s
and might be a candidate for best solid state receiver of all time!"

"The Sherwood S-7900A is an OUTSTANDING vintage receiver.
I owned the later S-8900A model....wish I still had it today!"

"Hank that Sherwood 7900A is a holy grail of receivers
great stuff as were all the Sherwood products when they were still a Chicago company.
My dad then I had their S-8000 and S-7900 receivers and I have an old tube AM-FM tuner..
